Gaskets are not essential for this specific filter. The filter`s soft end caps establish a good sealing when the filter is being pressed down by the housing cover/lid while you are tightening it.
It is recommended to change the filter every 6 months or when water taste changes or water flow reduces significantly it's probably time to replace the filter.
