The main features

The main characteristics of butyrate in the application of animal husbandry are:

1. Whole stomach -- 100% stomach;  

2. Anti-enteritis -- to prevent nutritional diarrhea and proliferative ilenteritis in the colon;  

3. Uniform absorption of the protective mucosa -- foregut, midgut and hindgut, effectively repairing the damage of intestinal mucosa and comprehensively protecting the intestinal mucosa;

Mechanism of action

As nutrient active fat in intestinal mucosa for feeding, the mechanism of butyrate is as follows:

(1) energy supply

Intestinal mucosal cell migration is an energy-consuming process. Due to insufficient nutrition of intestinal mucosa and endogenous "hunger" of intestinal mucosal cells, intestinal villi atrophy will occur, resulting in reduced functional surface area of intestinal mucosa, decreased absorption capacity, and weakened immune barrier of intestinal mucosa, resulting in diarrhea of piglets, water and feed feces of poultry.  

Butyrate does not break down in the stomach, meaning it can "by passing the stomach." A part of butyrate was directly absorbed by the intestinal tract, and was hydrolyzed into butyrate and glyceryl butyrate in intestinal mucosal cells. The butyrate glycerol ester and butyrate glycerol one ester, which are not used by foregut and midgut, arrive in the hindgut and decompose into butyrate under the action of microorganisms to provide energy for the cells in the mucous membrane of the hindgut.  

Butyric acid is a kind of short chain fatty acids, which is a major source of energy, intestinal epithelial cells could significantly stimulate intestinal epithelial cell proliferation, increase small intestinal villus height, guaranteeing the normal migration of the intestinal mucosa cells, and promote nutrient absorption, enhance immunity, improve animal health, reduce the piglets weaned stress syndrome, improve the production performance and reduce mortality.

Butyrate glyceride has molecular polarity, can effectively pass through the hydrophilic membrane of some main pathogenic bacteria, invade bacterial cells, and then kill harmful bacteria.  

Glycerol butyrate and glycerol butyrate were significantly better than other pathogens (such as sodium butyrate) that colonized mainly hindgut and cecum (such as salmonella and clostridium percapsulatum).

The main USES of butyrate in animal husbandry can be summarized as:

1. Provide energy source for intestinal mucosal cells, promote the proliferation and differentiation of epithelial cells, increase the height of intestinal villi and promote nutrient absorption;  

2. Enhance the function of intestinal barrier by promoting the expression of tight junction protein;  

3. Promote the proliferation of intestinal beneficial microorganisms (such as lactobacillus);  

4. The release of butyric acid is slow in the intestinal tract and goes directly to the posterior intestine. Compared with sodium butyrate, the efficiency of butyric acid is increased by 3 times.  

5. Improve animal resistance to disease and stress, and alleviate various stress losses;  

6. Improve animal production performance and substitute for antibiotic growth promoters.
